Vol. 449 No. 3

Written Answers. - Compensation Payments to Farmers.

Tony Killeen

Question:

91 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the allocation, if any, that has been made to alleviate flooding in north Clare and south Galway; when drainage and related works will commence; and the locations of these works. [3599/95]

As the Deputy is aware a sum of £2 million has been provided in the budget for a scheme of compensation payments to farmers throughout the country who have lost livestock or fodder in the floods. Moreover, the Government have established an interdepartmental committee to coordinate a response to the effects of the bad weather. Details of the action to be taken will be announced as soon as possible.
