Vol. 449 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hotel Purchase and Renovation.

Michael Creed

Question:

100 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the assistance, if any, which is available from his Department or State agencies under his responsibility towards the purchase and renovation of hotels. [4052/95]

Under the Operational Programme for Tourism, 1994-1999, provision is made for grants, on a selective basis, for specialist visitor accommodation needs and for selective hotel accommodation improvement. The details are set out in the Operational Programme, a copy of which is available in the Dáil Library. No assistance is available towards the purchase of hotels. Bord Fáilte and Shannon Development are the designated implementing agencies for assessing capital grants applications under the selective hotel accommodation improvement scheme, and in these cases, decision-making authority in each agency's area is exercised by the management boards established to determine such applications.
