Vol. 449 No. 8

Written Answers. - Transport Arrangements to Special Class.

Michael Creed

Question:

92 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education when her Department will finalise transport arrangements to the special class in Greemount national school, Cork City for a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [4652/95]

Arrangements are being made to put a home pick-up service in place for the pupil in question in the mornings and a service covering part of the distance to the child's home in the afternoons. I have asked Bus Éireann, my Department's agents, to investigate the possibility of introducing a full setdown service in the afternoons.

In the meantime, the child's parents will be offered grant assistance towards the cost of private transport from the set-down point to the pupil's home in the afternoons.

I will advise the Deputy regarding the feasibility of a set down service in the afternoons when the investigations are completed.
