Vol. 450 No. 2

Written Answers. - Pothole Damage.

Liam Burke

Question:

81 Mr. L. Burke asked the Minister for the Environment if, in the calculations that have been made nationwide, the potholed damage to the streets of Cork was exceptional with regard to the national norm; and if he will make a statement regarding the assistance likely to be given to Cork Corporation to repair this damage.[4800/95]

The assessment of damage to streets in Cork city, and the determination of priorities for repair works, are matters for Cork Corporation. I propose to allocate a block grant of the order of £1 million to the corporation this year, to supplement the provision from its own resources for maintenance and improvement works.
