Vol. 450 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cheekpoint (Waterford) Sewerage Scheme.

Austin Deasy

Question:

49 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment the current position with regard to a sewerage scheme for Cheekpoint, County Waterford; when Waterford County Council applied for this scheme; the various stages over the years to bring the scheme to fruition; and if he will give dates for each of the stages involved. [4624/95]

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

111 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment when approval will be given for the proposed sewerage scheme in Cheekpoint, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4624/95]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 49 and 111 together.

Proposals for this scheme were originally submitted in 1981 and contract documents were prepared in 1985. Because of the high level of demands under the water and sewerage programme, and the priority which has had to be given to schemes with major developmental or environmental benefits, it has not been possible to provide funding for this scheme.
