Vol. 450 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Galway School.

Robert Molloy

Question:

115 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Education if she will approve the application made by the board of management and the parents of a school (details supplied) for a 95 per cent grant towards the cost of improvements to the school. [5268/95]

The position is that the level of grant-aid payable by my Department in respect of capital works at national schools is 85 per cent of the approved cost. The only exceptions to this level of financial assistance are schools included in my Department's scheme of assistance for schools in designated areas of disadvantage, which are eligible for grant-aid of 95 per cent. The school referred to by the Deputy does not come under this scheme and accordingly the standard rate of grant has been sanctioned by my Department in respect of the works in question.
