Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Housing for Travellers.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

96 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide funding for a development programme at a travellers' housing location in Dublin (details supplied); if he will furnish details of the financial commitment required to fully complete the development programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5451/95]

In October 1993 my Department approved of Dublin Corporation accepting a tender for the provision of 17 houses for travellers at Labre Park. Ballyfermot. The approved all-in-cost including fees etc. was £1,013,000.

The corporation subsequently furnished cost variations amounting to £355,000 in respect of additional works, including a pre-school building, an extra house and additional site works. Of this amount £171,255 has been approved to date and the Department is in correspondence with the corporation seeking additional information in relation to the balance.
