Vol. 451 No. 2

Written Answers. - Veterinary Examination and Health Mark Regulations.

Robert Molloy

Question:

31 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties which have arisen in relation to stamping of meat due to the inability of many local authorities to implement veterinary examination regulations and the health mark regulations introduced by his Department in 1992; and the steps, if any, he intends to take in the matter. [6397/95]

I am aware of the difficulties being experienced by the non-implementation by some local authorities of the veterinary examination and health mark regulations as required by the Abattoirs Act, 1988. This matter has been the subject of ongoing correspondence between my Department and the local authorities concerned. I am reviewing the situation with a view to finding an acceptable solution.
