Vol. 451 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Debt.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

86 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funding to wipe out the debt of a primary school (details supplied) in Dublin 13 in view of the fund-raising of this school's parents' committee over the past year. [6315/95]

During the past year I allocated additional funds, over and above the standard capitation grant, to provide once-off support to a small number of schools identified as experiencing financial difficulties.

The school to which the Deputy refers was included and received an additional grant of £2,820 in December last to help reduce the school debt.

In deciding on the allocation to the school, full account was taken of the financial position applying at the school during the year.
