Vol. 452 No. 1

Written Answers. - INTERREG Funding.

John Ellis

Question:

50 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of INTERREG funding provided to Leitrim County Council which will be allocated to forestry roads; and if he will make a statement regarding the change of policy regarding INTERREG funding for roads. [7744/95]

The indicative INTERREG II grant allocation notified to Leitrim County Council on 7 March 1995 was £800,000. This means that grants up to this amount will be made to the council in 1995, subject to sufficient projects meeting the criteria and objectives of the programme being put forward for consideration and approval. The amount of grant for forestry roads will depend on the quality and nature of the projects submitted by the council.

As regards the more general question of INTERREG II funding for roads, I refer to the statement by Minister of State Deputy Bernard Allen, during the Adjournment Debate on 8 March 1995.
