Vol. 453 No. 3

Written Answers. - Chapelizod (Dublin) Renewal.

Tony Gregory

Question:

105 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received correspondence from the Chapelizod Old Village Association requesting advice and information relevant to the revitalisation of Chapelizod Village. Dublin 20; his response to their request; and the assistance his Department can give to restore this unique urban village. [9367/95]

Neither I nor the Minister for the Environment have received such correspondence. However, I understand that in response to a telephone inquiry some information on the urban and village renewal sub-programme of the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development was sent by my Department to an individual inquiring on behalf of Chapelizod. Under this sub-programme, grants will be made available for improvement works in urban areas throughout the country. In the case of the county boroughs, grants are available only in respect of a single major initiative in an area selected by the local authority. I understand that the area selected by Dublin Corporation does not include Chapelizod.
