Vol. 454 No. 1

Written Answers. - Government Advisers and Programme Managers.

Bertie Ahern

Question:

93 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the number and cost of special political advisers and programme managers from outside the permanent public service appointed at his Department. [10246/95]

My programme manager and special adviser are both from outside the permanent public service. They are employed under contract by my Department at a salary of £43,752 each per annum, and are entitled to travelling and subsistence expenses, etc., according to normal practice within the Civil Service.

The Minister of State at this Department is also Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach and the cost of his special adviser is borne by that Department.
