Vol. 454 No. 4

Written Answers. - Exports of Live Lamb.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

214 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the costs of exporting live lambs to the Continent wherein the charges have now more than doubled since 1994; if he will have arrangements made to investigate the case (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10925/95]

This is a commercial matter in which I have no legal function. However, I understand from inquiries with the main ferry companies that there have been no increases in respect of the transport of live lambs to the Continent since 1994, but I understand that some private ferry companies operating on the English Channel have increased their charges for the transport of live animals to the Continent.
