Vol. 454 No. 8

Written Answers. - Hospital Admission.

Ivor Callely

Question:

51 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the EU directives for which his Department has failed to put in place the necessary legislative measures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11053/95]

Limerick East): The patient concerned was assessed in the Adelaide Hospital on 12 June 1995 and is due to be admitted for surgery on 12 September 1995.

As the Deputy is aware, the scheduling of admission to hospital is a matter for the consultant concerned, each case being assessed to determine medical priority. Should the patient feel that his condition has deteriorated he should return to his general practitioner who is in the best position to emphasise the urgency of his case directly to the consultant.
