Vol. 454 No. 8

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefit.

M. J. Nolan

Question:

62 Mr. Nolan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in County Carlow was refused unemployment benefit. [11571/95]

The person concerned was paid his full entitlement of 390 days unemployment benefit up to 21 November 1994 on foot of a claim made in August 1993. He may requalify for benefit after working and paying 13 weeks PRSI contributions. At the moment he does not satisfy the conditions for requalification.

Last October the person concerned was advised to apply for unemployment assistance from the date his benefit ceased but he did not do so until 20 June 1995. His application for unemployment assistance is being dealt with and he will be advised of the outcome at an early date.
