Vol. 455 No. 3

Written Answers - Radio Licence Application.

Noel Ahern

Question:

114 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current position regarding the granting of a radio licence to a station (details supplied) and the court case taken against his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12106/95]

The Independent Radio and Television Commission is the body with responsibility for independent radio services throughout the country and any application for a licence to provide such a service must be made in the first instance to that body.

As for the court case, I take it that the Deputy is referring to proceedings commenced against me for the recovery of certain unlicensed wireless telegraphy apparatus. I am advised that this case is at a preliminary stage, and it would not therefore be appropriate for me to make any comment on it.
