Vol. 455 No. 3

Written Answers - Medical Practitioners Act, 1978.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

83 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Health the submissions made by the Medical Council regarding amendments to the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12157/95]

Limerick East): A number of submissions have been received in relation to the proposals for the amendment of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, which are being considered by my Department at present. Discussions have been held with both the current and the previous Medical Council in relation to the proposed amending legislation. I had a meeting with members of the present Council on 24 May and had the opportunity of discussing some of the proposed amendments with them. I hope to be able to circulate the heads of the proposed amending legislation by the end of the year.
