Vol. 457 No. 3

Written Answers. - Ministerial Costs.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

88 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the number and cost of staff in his general and private ministerial offices and the general and private ministerial offices of the Minister (s) of State at his Department; the number and cost of contract and part-time staff employed in such offices; the cost of all travel undertaken by him or the Minister (s) of State at his Department since appointment to office outlining the destinations visited, the duration, date and purpose of the trips; the total expenses incurred by him or the Minister (s) of State at his Department and the cost and names of consultancy services to his Department and each State body under the aegis of his Department to date in 1995. [15302/95]

The number and annual salary of the staff, including contract and part-time staff, employed in my private and constituency offices and in those of the Minister of State at my Department are set out in the following Table 1.

I assume that the travel cost information requested relates to foreign travel; this information was given in the reply to Question No. 89 on 18 October 1995.

The information requested on consultancy services and the cost of these to date in 1995 is set out in Table 2. In addition nine graphic design companies were engaged to prepare designs for a total of 36 departmental publications etc., totalling £53,372 to date in 1995.

As the question of consultancy services to State bodies under the aegis of my Department is a matter for the bodies themselves, the information requested is not available in my Department.
