Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Regulations.

Ivor Callely

Question:

174 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends to amend the regulations in the Road Traffic Act, 1994, regarding the levels of alcohol acceptable when driving; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16303/95]

The Road Traffic Act, 1994 reduced the maximum permissible alcohol level at which a person is permitted to drive, or attempt to drive, from 100 to 80 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. I have no proposals for further amendment of the law as regards this matter.
