Written Answers. - Local Government Funding.
In line with a commitment in the policy agreement A Government of Renewal, I engaged consultants in July to undertake a professional study to see how a fair, equitable and reasonable system of funding for local authorities might be introduced.
The study is being undertaken in two stages and will lead to the publication of a White Paper. I expect that stage 1, which is to be completed by the end of this year, will bring forward funding options to be examined in depth in stage 2.
