Vol. 457 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pedestrian Crossings.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

30 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment the plans, if any, he has to alter the regulations setting out the criteria on which local authorities must operate in coming to decisions concerning the provision or otherwise of pedestrian crossings; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15051/95]

Criteria for the provision of pedestrian crossings were set out in guidelines prepared by An Foras Forbatha in 1981 and made available to road authorities, who are responsible for the provision of such crossings. I have asked the National Roads Authority to review the guidelines, in the light of experience, with a view to determining whether revisions are required.
