97 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in obtaining EU approval for proposed Mutton Island sewage treatment plant at Galway city; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16690/95]

The European Commission has yet to accept that the proposal to locate the sewage treatment plant at Mutton Island is an appropriate one. The matter is still the subject of correspondence with the Commission.
