17 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the procedures that were followed prior to the appointment of the current Chief Executive Officer of CIE; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17418/95]

Under the Transport Act, 1950, the appointment of officers and servants of CIE, including the chief executive officer, is entirely a matter for the board of CIE and I have no function in this area.
