Vol. 458 No. 8

Written Answers. - Disability Pension.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

186 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Defence if he will have arrangements made to review the case of an ex-army person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and if he will agree to an oral appeal with regard to his disability army pension. [17614/95]

The Army Pensions Acts provide that a disabilty pension may be granted to a former member of the Permanent Defence Force in respect of a disease only if the disease is attributable to overseas service with a United Nations Force.

The person in question indicated in June 1988 that he wished to apply for a disability pension in respect of a disease. However, as he did not have overseas service, he was advised that he was not eligible to make application. The question of an appeal does not arise.
