The proportion of the work of community welfare officers which relates to the administration of the supplementary welfare allowance scheme varies from area to area, and from time to time, and it would not be feasible to provide details of the numbers of officers involved in the administration of this service only. Details of the total numbers of community welfare officers and superintendents, both permanent and temporary, for the years 1990 to 1994, the latest date for which data is available, are shown in the attached tabular statement.
