Vol. 459 No. 3

Written Answers. - Delay in Treatment.

Question:

107 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Health the reason for the delay being experienced by a person (details supplied) in County Dublin in receiving treatment for facial injuries; and when treatment will commence in view of the serious nature of the injuries. [18255/95]

, Limerick East): I understand that the patient concerned has been attending St James's Hospital on a regular out-patient basis and that his case was last reviewed on 14 September 1995. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the patient is on Mr. McHugh's in-patient waiting list for corrective surgery since last year and it is anticipated that he will be admitted in 1996.

The Deputy will appreciate that scheduling hospital admissions is a matter for the consultant concerned and each case is assessed to determine medical priority. Should the patient feel concerned that his condition has deteriorated, he should return to his consultant for further assessment.
