Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Noel Davern

Question:

346 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Education if she will review the case of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary regarding school transport; and if she will have arrangements made for an inspector of her Department to call to the family to investigate the full circumstances of the case. [1058/96]

In accordance with normal procedure in such cases, a medical grant has been sanctioned with effect from September 1995 in respect of the pupil named by the Deputy.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I have recently secured the agreement of the Minister for Finance to substantial increases in the level of these grants, with effect from the beginning of the current school year. The pupil in question will qualify for the increased amount subject to satisfactory school attendance.
