Vol. 460 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Autistic Children's School.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

61 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if she intends to set up a special school for autistic children in Cork. [1590/96]

I have no plans at present to set up a special school for autistic children in Cork. My Department recently established a pilot programme for autistic children in Dublin and Limerick. This programme will be closely monitored and evaluated by my Department's inspectorate before any decisions are made in relation to an expansion in the scheme.
