Vol. 461 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sligo School Accommodation.

Declan Bree

Question:

108 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that an application for the provision of a portakabin was made by Our Lady of Benada secondary school, Benada Abbey, Tourlestrane, County Sligo, on 8 October 1995; the reason she indicated in her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 197 of 30 January 1996 that the application was made shortly after Deputy Bree's letter of 11 October 1995; and if the application from the school for sanction for the urgent provision of a portakabin for the school to accommodate students from 6 November 1995 has been decided upon. [3445/96]

The accommodation requirements at Our Lady of Benada secondary school were brought to the attention of my Department in early October 1995.

However, a formal application for the provision of additional temporary accommodation was submitted by the school authorities as outlined in my reply of 30 January 1996.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I have approved the provision of one general classroom in prefabricated accommodation at Our Lady of Benada secondary school.
