109 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Justice the changes, if any, she intends to make to the geographical boundaries of Garda district divisions; if she will consider having the Carrig area covered by the Birr division, County Offaly; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5207/96]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed policing arrangements for individual areas. I understand from them that the policing arrangements for Garda Districts and Divisions, including geographical boundaries, are the subject of continual review.

The Carrig area forms part of the Nenagh District in the Tipperary Division and there are no plans at present to alter this arrangement.
