Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - Land Disposal.

Michael Creed

Question:

126 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the current position regarding his Department's proposals to dispose of lands (details supplied) in County Cork. [5225/96]

As the Deputy may be aware, the lands in question were offered for sale by my Department at public auction on 27 January 1995. The outcome to the auction was successful and the Department was satisfied with the sale price which was secured.

Subsequent and unforeseen difficulties have frustrated the Department in being able to give vacant possession of the land to the purchaser and on advice from the Chief State Solicitor's Office the contract for sale was rescinded. With the assistance of the CSSO, my Department is now seeking to resolve the difficulties mentioned with a view to disposing of the property by sale at the earliest possible opportunity.
