Vol. 463 No. 6

Written Answers. - Confiscated “Company Cars”.

Noel Ahern

Question:

48 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the number of cars, idiomatically referred to as company cars, which were confiscated by each Garda station in Dublin since the Road Traffic Act, 1994, (Section 41) Regulations, 1995, were implemented; the number of cars which were reclaimed; the number which were genuinely company cars in view of the perception that this law is not being used by the gardaí as intended, but is being used in respect of other untaxed cars. [4775/96]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that as the terms "company car" as referred to by the Deputy is not defined and as interpretations of what constitutes a "company car" can differ, it is not possible to furnish the Deputy with the information sought.
