Vol. 465 No. 2

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Tony Killeen

Question:

71 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Environment the progress, if any, that has been made in advancing the application by Clare County Council for EU cohesion funding for water and sewerage schemes. [8843/96]

Applications in respect of three integrated water and sewerage scheme proposals relating to County Clare have been submitted to the European Commission for co-financing under the Cohesion Fund. No decision has been made by the Commission for co-financing under the Cohesion Fund. No decision has been made by the Commission on two of these proposals (the Burren and North Clare Water Services Plan and the South East Clare Wetlands Scheme) and I cannot say when a decision will be made. In the case of the Lough Derg Catchment Protection Scheme, a decision approving expenditure of some £10.5 million was received from the Commission; the decision did not, however, relate to any of the projects in County Clare.
