Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Student Health and Welfare Services.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

164 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Education her views on the adequacy of student health and welfare services; and her views on whether these services are sufficiently resourced. [9666/96]

The provision of student health and welfare services is essentially a matter for the authorities of the various educational institutions concerned.

At third level, such services have evolved over the years using student capitation fees to fund provision and development. The services are intended to complement those provided to students under the health services nationally.
