Vol. 465 No. 3

Written Answers. - Refurbishment of Dublin Flats.

Tony Gregory

Question:

121 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment whether Dublin Corporation has applied to his Department for funding for the refurbishment of Mary Aikenhead Avenue, Dublin 8; if so, the refurbishment work involved; the cost of these works; and when funding will be made available for the work to commence. [9446/96]

Dublin Corporation has applied for funding to my Department under the remedial works scheme for the refurbishment of the flats at Mary Aikenhead House, James's Street, at an estimated cost of some £3 million. The works proposed include upgrading plumbing, kitchen and sanitary facilities, the replacement of windows and doors and environmental works to the complex.

The 13 estates to which the corporation gave its highest relative priority have been designated for funding under the remedial works scheme. Due to the outstanding financial commitments on approved projects, and the level of demand for assistance under the scheme, it is not possible, at this stage, to designate further projects for funding.
