Question:

114 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment the resources, if any, being made available to local authorities to assist them in the implementation of the new building control regulations in view of the extra duties being imposed on the fire prevention services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10822/96]

To enable the local authorities to meet the cost of discharging their duties under the building control regulations, fees are payable to them by those applying for fire safety certificates.
