Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tyrrellspass (Westmeath) Water Scheme.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

116 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the Tyrrellspass water scheme; the current progress made in respect of the scheme; the costs involved in this project; and when he intends to notify Westmeath County Council that funding has been allocated for this project in view of the fact that the council has given this matter the highest priority. [10824/96]

The Mullingar/Central area water supply scheme involves the laying of 12,270 metres of watermain from the south eastern high level section of Gaybrook water tower to Tyrrellspass. The preliaminary report for the scheme, estimated to cost £1.1 million, is currently under examination in my Department. Having regard to the existing high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve the proposal.
