Vol. 467 No. 1

Written Answers. - Third Level Support.

Dan Wallace

Question:

61 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the total amount of State financial support given to the third-level educational sector in 1995; if she will give a breakdown of this figure by institution; and the anticipated total expenditure in this respect in each of the years from 1996 to 1998. [12695/96]

The total expenditure on third level institutions from the Vote for Third-Level and Further Education was £369.3 million in 1995. The breakdown of this amount by institution is set out in the tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. The 1996 equivalent provision is £437.5 million. The breakdown of this provision is not yet available. The provisions for 1997 and 1998 will be determined by Government in the context of the annual Estimates process for those years.
