Vol. 468 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Accommodation Needs.

Mary Wallace

Question:

111 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the current status of the work of the Commission on School Accommodational Needs. [14744/96]

The Deputy will be aware that the Commission on School Accommodation Needs was asked, as its first task, to examine the existing vocational education committee structure and report and make recommendations on the rationalisation of vocational education committees. This commission consists of a steering group and a technical working group.

On 27 June 1996, the technical working group, which is independent of me as Minister, published and submitted its report on the reform of the vocational education committee system to the steering group. The steering group, which includes representatives of the Partners in Education, is now considering this report following which it will report to me.
