324 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in approving a contract for the construction of a causeway in relation to Galway main drainage sewerage scheme outfall and treatment works at Mutton Island; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15141/96]

The proposal to construct a causeway to Mutton Island with a sewage treatment plant on the island is the subject of a legal challenge in the High Court. In the circumstances, it is not possible to proceed with the award of a contract at present.
