Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Severance Arrangements.

Mary Harney

Question:

994 Miss Harney asked the Minister for the Marine if he will give details of any financial settlements or extraordinary severance arrangements entered into with civil servants in his Department or with public servants in State agencies under the aegis of his Department. [15875/96]

No financial settlements or extraordinary severance arrangements have been entered into with civil servants in my Department since I was appointed Minister for the Marine. However, eight State industrial employees at Dún Laoghaire Harbour have availed of a special redundancy package.

There have been no financial settlements or extraordinary severance arrangements in relation to chief executives of State agencies under my Department's aegis. However, a financial agreement was entered into recently between the chief executive of BIM and that company, in connection with his early retirement. In respect of public servants in those agencies below the level of chief executive, any such arrangements are a matter for the agency itself and would not normally be brought to my attention.
