Vol. 469 No. 5

Written Answers. - Crosshaven (Cork) Coastguard Houses.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

85 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when the Coastguard Station houses in Crosshaven, County Cork, will be made available. [17720/96]

Terms for sale of four of the twelve coastguard station houses have been agreed between the Commissioners of Public Works and Cork County Council. The Commissioners of Public Works are awaiting a response from Cork County Council to their offer to dispose of a further house to the council for social housing purposes. When the council's response is received the Chief State Solicitor's Office will be asked to prepare the necessary contracts. These five houses will be made available on completion of the necessary legal formalities.

Of the remaining seven houses, three are being retained in State ownership and the last four will be disposed of to the occupying Army/Navy Personnel.
