Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Galway School Project.

Noel Treacy

Question:

117 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education if she will direct the commencement of a project (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for the delay in the commencement of this project; the date on which construction of the project will commence; the amount of money allocated in this respect; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18965/96]

The building project at the school referred to by the Deputy is not yet at a stage at which it could commence. At present, my Department is examining applications from contractors who have expressed an interest in tendering for the project. I expect this process to be completed within the next two weeks.

Following completion of this stage in the pretender process, I will be in a position to consider authorising the invitation of tenders. At this stage, I have not allocated specific funding to the project and I cannot say when construction work will commence.
