118 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, which has been made regarding the provision of second-level education for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath. [18987/96]
The selection and enrolment of pupils in secondary schools is, in the first instance, the responsibility of individual schools. In cases such as this, my Department endeavours, by a process of consultation with school management, to have the pupil in question placed in a school in his locality. These efforts, which by their nature can take some time, are ongoing in this case and every effort is being made to find an appropriate placement.
