Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin-Derry Airlink.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

310 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications whether EU Council Regulation 2408/92 can be used to reinstate the airlink from Dublin to Derry, thereby improving air access to north-east Donegal. [19255/96]

I should point out that as a service between Donegal and Dublin is currently being subvented under the regulation, covering a similar catchment area to Derry Airport, any subvention of a Dublin-Derry service would impact negatively on the Donegal service itself. I do not propose, therefore, to extend the essential air services programme to include the Dublin-Derry route.
