Limerick East): The Consultative Conference on Medical Manpower in Limerick in March 1996 raised a large range of issues connected with medical manpower. These included medical career structures, the division of medical work, the restructuring of medical training and the future relationship between the medical profession and other clinical disciplines. My Department has undertaken to produce a further document developing the ideas raised at the Limerick conference. It is intended that this document should set out a number of practical proposals for consideration by health service providers and by the professions. I would hope that this document will be available in early 1997.
