Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Ulster Canal.

James Leonard

Question:

30 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the arrangements, if any, which have been made to advertise for tenders to carry out a feasibility study of the Ulster Canal; and, if not, the reason for the delay in this regard. [20751/96]

The prior information notice in respect of this study was placed in the EU Journal by the Rivers Agency in Northern Ireland on 17 October 1986 and it is expected that the advertisement itself will appear in the next issue of the journal. In addition, the advertisement was published in the press on 5 November last. This is a joint study being commissioned by the Rivers Agency on behalf of the agency and the Waterways Service of my Department.
