Vol. 471 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Traffic Director.

Seán Haughey

Question:

66 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment when he will appoint a traffic supremo for Dublin. [20795/96]

In the light of the decision to establish the Office of Director of Traffic, a special consultancy study was commissioned to define the organisational structures required to ensure that the director could fully and effectively discharge his/her functions and that the new post and unit within Dublin Corporation would have optimum operational capacity, functional independence, and self-financing capability. The study is expected to be completed within the next week or so and urgent action will then be taken to appoint a director.
