Vol. 475 No. 4

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John Ellis

Question:

142 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he proposes to take with regard to gaining sanction for Cohesion Funding for the south Leitrim regional water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4911/97]

In view of the number and value of applications for Cohesion Funding currently with the Commission, and on which my Department is actively pursuing decisions, there are no plans at this stage to submit an application in respect of the south Leitrim regional water supply scheme, phase 2.

Question:

143 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment the action, if any, he proposes to take with regard to gaining sanction for Cohesion Funding for the north Leitrim regional water scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4912/97]

An application seeking Cohesion Funding for the north Leitrim regional water supply scheme was submitted as part of the Lough Gill catchment scheme. However, approval to the scheme was not included in the Commission decision of July 1996. The Manorhamilton part of the scheme has been approved to proceed through the planning stages under my Department's water and sewerage services work programme for 1997.
