Vol. 475 No. 7

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Tony Gregory

Question:

159 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if she will review the non-payment of the £10,000 national lottery grant to a hurling and football club (details supplied) in Dublin 7 which was to be an essential contribution to a £300,000 voluntary sporting project but was not paid when one of the contractors went into liquidation, in spite of the fact that all the work was completed by other sub-contractors. [5757/97]

In August 1994 a grant of £10,000 was allocated to the club in question under my Department's recreational facilities scheme and the club was advised of the documentation required to enable the grant to be paid. A further letter was issued to the club in August 1995 but my Department has no record of receiving the documentation sought.

I would suggest that an official of the club should contact my Department's sport section as this grant offer cannot be kept open indefinitely.
